Geoffrey Paulin, Senior Economist Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Consumer Expenditure Surveys (CE) program
Dr. Paulin frequently organizes sessions for economic and other conferences at which he speaks, featuring work from the CE program and the BLS generally. This includes the I-CHRIE conference, at which he has presented several times since 2006. In addition to presenting results of his research, he also leads workshops to provide training in use of CE tabular and microdata, and in the writing process: from formulating an idea to publishing the findings.
Gustav Pieterse Hotel Manager The Saxon Hotel South Africa
Gustav started his career at the Saxon Hotel, as the Banqueting Manager in January 2015, at the age of 24. Within 2 years and 2 months, Gustav quickly grew through the ranks, where he held the positions of Food and Beverage Duty Manager, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager and ultimately Food and Beverage Manager.
Thereafter, in May 2017, Gustav found himself in Washington DC, at the Hay-Adams Hotel, as Food and Beverage Assistant Manager. After 4 months of being at the property, Gustav won the accolade of “Manager of the quarter”, and 5 months after that, managed to scoop up the award for the “Manager of the year” for the hotel.
In May 2018, Gustav returned to South Africa and re-joined the Saxon, as Operations Manager. In December 2020, Gustav was given the opportunity to take up the role of Hotel Manager for the Saxon hotel.
