Personal Introduction

Professor Cathy H.C. Hsu joined the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management in July 2001. Previously, she was a professor at Kansas State University. Prior to that, she was on faculty at Iowa State University for 9 years.

She is the editor and chapter author of the book, Legalized Casino Gaming in the US: The Economic and Social Impact, published in 1999 by The Haworth Hospitality Press. She is also the lead author of the Marketing Hospitality textbook, published in June 2001 by John Wiley and Sons. She has also co-authored a book on Quantity Food Quality Control in traditional Chinese, published in Taiwan in 1995. Professor Hsu has over 80 refereed journal and proceedings publications; has served as the proceedings editor for the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators’ (ISTTE) annual conference for 6 years; and is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Teaching in Travel and Tourism.

Professor Hsu is a member of the Travel and Tourism Research Association, ISTTE, and Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE). She has served on the CHRIE board of directors and is currently the Chairman of the board of ISTTE. She also serves on 7 journal editorial boards. She received the Best Article of the Year award from the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research in 2000. She is listed in Who’s Who Among Asian Americans. Born and raised in Taiwan, she is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
