ISTTE presents each year several awards to its members during the annual conference. The purpose of the awards is to encourage excellence in travel and tourism education and to provide special recognition to members of the Society. The awards coordination process is handled by a Board member appointed by the President with the approval of the Board.
The following awards are available at specific annual rotations:
ISTTE Martin Oppermann Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement
The award recognizes and honors an individual who has provided significant service to the Society. This award is given once every three years.
ISTTE Institutional Achievement Award
This award recognizes and honors an institute that has made significant long-term contributions to the field of travel and tourism education. The contributions may be at any educational level and may be anywhere in the world. This award is given once every two years.
ISTTE Four-Year University and College Achievement Award
This award recognizes and honors an individual who has made significant lifetime contributions to the field of travel and tourism at the four-year level educational institutions. This award is given once every two years.
ISTTE John C. Kesler Memorial Achievement Award
This award recognizes and honors an individual who has made significant lifetime contributions to the field of travel and tourism at the two-year level educational institutions. This award is given once every two years.
ISTTE High School and Proprietary School Achievement Award
This award recognizes and honors an individual who has made significant lifetime contributions to the field of travel and tourism at the high school or proprietary school educational institutions. This award is given once every two years.
Based on the rotation of the ISTTE Awards, the following awards will be available in 2008:

Procedures:
Any ISTTE member may make nominations. The nominated individual or institution must be a current member or former member of ISTTE.
The nominator should turn in a complete nomination package that includes:

A nomination form.
Members may download this here.
- A copy of the nominee's vita, a resume or an institutional profile that will indicate in detail merits for the respective award
- Any other supporting documents that demonstrate excellence in travel and tourism education.
Once the awards nominees are submitted to the Awards Coordinator, the list of nominations is forwarded to the Board for a vote. In cases of an absence or insufficient nominations, the Board may decide not to grant some Awards for a particular year.

The nomination deadline for the 2008 is May 30, 2008. Winners will be notified no later than August 1, 2008.
